Education and proper nutrition are essential for every child's growth and development. However, for children living in remote areas such as Tuapene, South Central Timor, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), access to education and nutritious food remains a challenge.

Recognizing this situation, Berkat Safety is contributing through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program by supporting the operations of the Feeding and Learning Center (FLC) Tuapene, managed by Yayasan Tangan Pengharapan.

Supporting Children's Education and Nutrition in Tuapene

The Feeding and Learning Center (FLC) Tuapene provides children with access to basic education while also supporting their nutritional needs. The program focuses on learning, nutrition, and character development from an early age.

Currently, FLC Tuapene supports 43 children with the assistance of 2 teachers serving in the remote area.

Activities include basic learning such as reading, writing, and counting, as well as nutritious meals such as eggs, milk, nutritional porridge, and fortified biscuits. Children also take part in educational and community activities.

Through its support, Berkat Safety helps ensure that these activities can continue and provide meaningful benefits for children in rural NTT.

Desta's Story: A Child's Determination to Learn

One story that reflects the spirit of children in Tuapene is Destafila Kase, known as Desta.

Every day, Desta walks approximately 1 kilometer to school. Despite limited learning facilities, she remains enthusiastic about learning. Using simple learning materials such as small stones, Desta learns numbers and letters together with her teachers and classmates.

At home, Desta also helps her mother with daily activities, including picking chilies, sweeping, and folding clothes.

Desta's story shows that children in remote areas have tremendous potential when they are given the opportunity and support to learn and grow.

Three Key Focus Areas of FLC Tuapene

Berkat Safety's CSR support for FLC Tuapene focuses on several key activities:

1. Nutritious Food
Providing nutritious meals regularly to help support children's nutritional needs and development.

2. Education and Character Development
Supporting children through basic learning activities such as reading, writing, and counting, while encouraging independence and positive character development.

3. Community and Educational Activities
Organizing educational and community activities, including Independence Day celebrations, to encourage confidence, participation, and togetherness among the children.

Providing Proper School Uniforms for Rural Children

In addition to education and nutrition, access to proper school uniforms is another important concern.

Limited economic resources mean that some children in remote areas may still attend school wearing worn-out, damaged, or ill-fitting uniforms.

Together with Yayasan Tangan Pengharapan, the Proper School Uniform Program aims to help provide children with suitable uniforms so they can attend school with greater comfort and confidence.

A proper school uniform is more than just clothing. For these children, it represents an opportunity to learn with confidence and feel that they have the same opportunity to pursue their education as other children.

Together, Building a Better Future for Indonesian Children

Through its support for FLC Tuapene, Berkat Safety seeks to expand the meaning of safety. Safety is not only about providing protection in the workplace, but also about helping protect opportunities and the future of the next generation.

The collaboration between Berkat Safety, Yayasan Tangan Pengharapan, teachers serving in remote areas, and other partners represents a shared commitment to supporting education, nutrition, and the development of children in rural NTT.

Because every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a better future.
